1969 DART CUSTOM FULL RESTORATION

I saw that bottom picture and was going to ask if you did a black base coat before the green. I too like the others never really liked the green but seeing it fresh definitely changed my mind. I guess the ones you see faded don't show it's true beauty. Your car looks beautiful!

How easy was it to paint on the rotisserie? Did you rotate to do the top etc? Have you painted inside the cabin yet? If you did I must of missed that picture.

Again, you do great work and the car is looking awesome!

We actually ended up putting a darker gray base coat on after about 5 coats of paint since the green wasn't flipping dark then put about 3 coats on. We allowed it to dry out overnight before applying the last few coats.

Yes I flipped the car around as we painted it. Had to make sure it was clean and taped shut so stuff would fall out from inside

I'm not going to paint the cabin whereas I'll probably install sound mat in there. Might brush another coat of black epoxy on the floor.

Thank you for the nice comment!

Car looks great, but a question. Since its metalflake or metallic finish, and it doesnt look like you painted the doors, fenders, hood, or decklid, how are you going to get the metallic to match. I know shooting it from the same batch is key, but i have had problems getting metallics to match on a hard line basically panel to panel unless shot at the same time or faded into the adjacent panels.

I've got faith in my painter. If it doesn't match I will not be happy but I've know him a long time and have no reason to doubt his ability. Hopefully this won't be his first mistake lol.

I might add he's over 50 years old and has painted and also blend repaired $100,000 collector cars. Also, yes we are using the same batch to help as well as took notes on the coats and what was done on each coat.

Nothing beats a fresh paint job. That is the day you really can start seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. The dark green really should pop once you get that clear buffed.

Got the bottom undercoated and decided to paint it body color. Going to clear it tomorrow night.

Planning on taking it to the Nats whether finished or not? I'd love to see it in person this weekend! Its coming together quick and you're doing some great work!

I'd love to display it but I don't have the time to mess with hauling it. Plus I've never been to nats so I want to enjoy it rather than worrying about the car lol

Totally agree! this will be my 4th or 5th time going since 2006, but I haven't been since 2008. It's a great show and a lot to look at. Definitely a 2 day show especially if planning to take your time in swap meet area.

I've been watching the weather for it and almost decided not to go since the forecast was 50% for Saturday, but it's down to 20% now so I'm definitely going.

I'll be on the lookout for a few parts too!

Hopefully, I'll run into some FABO members while there.

Well I failed trying to get it on the ground before I leave for Ohio in the morning. The good thing is if it falls it'll land on its tires lol. FYI these are temporary wheels and tires.

Got back from Nats and got the car on the ground and test fitted the 295/50/15's so I can finish welding the wheels up. I've also got all the parts cut in and wet sanded ready to paint sometime this week.

Well... glad I didn't doubt my painter. It all matches well and metallic is flowed out the same. I can't wait to get it wet blocked then polished but I think I'll hire that out. I'm tired of sanding and need a break.
