right angle grinder and 3/8 electric drill. both woreout. I want ( affordable ) quality. brands..... thanks for an guidance. I tend to use the right angle grinder quite bit over a years time. the drill not much.

Metabo, I paid $120 for mine which out lasted 6 of the harbor freight ones. With power tool you get what you pay for. Too bad I learned that lesson late in life.

I have a Milwaukee that has outlasted a few others. That said, I currently have 3 or 4 others that I like to have set up with diff wheels (cut, sand, grind...) I think they include Craftsman, Ryobi, Skil. I wouldn't be afraid to go with any name brand for a good deal. One big consideration for me is the trigger. I have seen a few I just did not feel comfortable using. Some have a lock on position. Others have goofy little safety gismos that you have to mess with every time you want to turn it on... I had the displeasure of using one of the $15 HF ones last year. That thing vibrated horribly.

As for drills, I have an old B&D 3/8 corded around here somewhere that still functions, but it has seen very little use since I bought my Milwaukee 18V about 10 years ago.

I have had 4 4-4 1/2" Makita angle grinders for years. Other than replacing brushes , no problems.

I got a dewalt 20 volt angle grinder for my birthday. I havent plugged in my other grinders since june. I use it almost daily. Zero disappointment.
Kids got me the combo drill/driver set a couple weeks later, also 20 volt. I have 3 electric drills i rarely use. Keep in mind i work in my shop for a living, so daily use isnt an exaggeration.

Often I have noted big name places have there on line store which ships or have a in store pick up option.

where is the best place to shop. lowe's ,home depo, or off the net??? I hate shopping even for myself!
I like to go eyeball a tool first. They can make the cheapest crap look good in a pic. And as long as it's not a huge price difference, it's worth a couple bucks more to pick the thing up, check the balance, see how the switch works...

Or go look them over at your hardware store then check amazon. Not a great way to support local industry, but 100 bucks is 100 bucks. My tools came from amazon, local harware stores get the lumber sales.

I have heard (not sure) that two identical looking grinders (same brand ) may have a different amp rating. The higher rating being the better ( more powerful) . Again, not sure , but something to consider.

I see some with what they call a cord switch. the last two grinders I had lasted couple years each, and not high $$ pieces, and had lots of use. the usual switch went out in one and the bearings at the head in the other. I can't complain really. "she" wants me to by a good one but the tight *** in me says NO! ha....

Hard to beat a Makita 4 1/2" angle grinder mine has had 20 plus years of hard use and just one brush change.
