I need someone to school me on 69 barracuda & dart sport hoods. I thought I knew how to tell then apart. The original hood hinges on my 69 barracuda are non adjustable. The adjustment is in the hood. The later hoods ( 73-76 dart ) the adjustment is in the hinges. The mounting holes in the hoods for the darts are stationary. I have 2 67/68 barracudas & the mounting holes in the hood move for adjustment ( the same for my 69 ) I bought a 73 dart sport hood from a friend some time ago. IT WILL NOT WORK There is no adjustment to it. Now, I bought a hood from someone else. I was told it was a 69 hood. It is partly my falt, I didn't look at the hood in that area. The hood I just bought will not work. I posted some pictures. The bronze hood is the one I just bought. The gray hood is from a dart sport. The green hood is a 67/68 barracuda hood. You can see on the 67/68 green hood that you can slide the bolt holes for adjustment, the others you can not. Am I right in my thinking ?

OK. the 69 cuda hood and the 73-76 beak hoods off the darts are the same. that being said, I can look tonight on my 74 hood but I'm fairly certain it adjusts at the hood as well. However if it doesn't, all you need to do is swap out the hood hinges, which are cheap and easy to find.

I have used both. The 69 hood has a floating plate inside the hood for adjustment, and the holes in the hinges are round. The 73-76 hoods have fixed threads in the hood and the hinges are slotted for adjustment.

Yes, that is what I have been finding out. That is why the 69 hoods are hard to find.

This is a dart sport hood on my old race car. I think I just opened the holes in the hinges a bit and it fit fine.

The later model hood will work fine with either hinge and patience adjusting as previously mentioned. The later model hood has crumple ridges on the sides though that the 69 did not.

Dart Sport Snorkel hood is one of my favorites.
Thought about putting one on our 69 Fastback. I think it would look great. Looks right at home to me.
Son says nope... Building his car, so no scoop.
If I came across one for a good deal I might buy it anyway.

I had the scoop on mine in the late 80's and it fit perfectly and looked great (flat black). When I restoed I pulled it and replaced the hood because it was cut for air. That scoop complements a 69 nicely though! Mine is in the shed for re-sell or another project one day!

Are the 67, 68 and 69 barracuda hoods all different? Did all 67 hoods have the chrome inserts?
Are the nose and grill pieces all different also? If you change the nose piece do you have to change the hood for the body lines to match.
I would prefer not to have the Plymouth on the front end of my Cuda.
Does anybody make replacement fenders? I have found the lower dogleg patch but that is it so far.
So many questions. Thanks.

67 & 68 are them same 69 is diff. The front nose ( upper valance) of the 69 is diff. than the 67 & 68

And each year grill works are year specific. Parts of them can be swapped around between 67 and 68, but it's best to sticke with each year grillworks as a set. 69stuff is kindof 69 specific.

For you it would probably be easiest to just remove the letters and fill the holes.

My car has one 68 and one 69 fender, a 67 nose with the lettering welded up, and a 68 grill works, and a 68 hood. The car is a 68 with 69 tailights and finish panel, and 67 back-ups. The dash is a 70. The front suspension is mostly 70/72/73 the rear end is a 69. The engine is a 71, with 69 rods. The tranny is probably a 68.There are lotsa parts I have no idea what year they are......Some parts are not even Mopar.

Agree. i just bought the 73/74 Dart Sport hood and the Dart Sport hinges. The hinges cost me $30 for the pair. The Dart Sport hinges have elongated holes to adjust the hood.

I have a few pairs of 73 and up hinges, I'm in Harford Co Maryland. Let me know if I can help.
