Just bought 65 barracuda with slant six and 4 speed. It has a holley carb and offenhouser intake . Did this come on slant sixs originally or did someone add this?

The intake and Carb is a good upgrade, are you going to leave the /6 in your Barracuda ?

I am leaving the engine in it. Its a nice car just going to leave it like it is . I don't really need it just could not resist buying it

I have a 66 cuda sl6 4spd. I've added frt disks, bigger t-bars and an 8-1/4 rear axle, w/ a Mopar rear sway bar, and 14in Mustang painted Magnum 500 wheels. It's a kick in the a$$ to drive, wouldn't think of swapping in a v8, though I have plenty of parts to do that, if I wanted.

4bbl is a terrible swap onto a stock slant. just sayin.....

To get the full benefits of a 4 bbl on a slant, you should upgrade the cam and exhaust to complement the 4 bbl intake...

I have had a couple 4bbl slants, one rock stock, the other with headers only. The only problem I've encountered was that the headered one's PO had installed a 750 dp. So first thing I did, was try a 625 I had from a 318, still too big. So I bought an electric choke carter 500. Just right. I think a 400 to 500 carb would be just fine on a stock sl6.
that being said, I have no immediate plans to put one on my current 66 cuda. It's just fine the way it is, at least mechanically.

After looking over the car more after I got it home it seems to be better than I thought. I found some paper work in the dash says it has Clifford header, offenhouser intake and a 600 holley. It is a 4 speed with heavy duty clutch pressure plate and tb.Also has ss springs and 8 3/4 posi with 3:55 gears.A previous owner took it to brewers in ohio and had a lot of work done. Dont know if they did anything else to engine.

I gotta call bs on that.
Bring it. A slant 225 is going to pull ~250 max CFM and thats at ~5500 so your 4bbl may not even open the secondaries. Your going to be better off with a 2bbl and the money saved can be used for something worthwhile. a stock BBD would be totally adequate and far less $$$. You can throw a 6bbl on it but it wont make it any faster, but triple weber side drafts may make it quicker but they are measured differently.

On my '65 Dart, the secondaries of the Edelbrock 500 AVS would open at 3500 rpms.

Check the Holley PN. A small 4-bbl (370 cfm) is ideal. If so, don't lose it since those are rare and cost more than a common larger one. In theory, it could even give better mileage than a 1 or 2 bbl. I sure wouldn't say "over-carb'ed" without knowing the PN and also what camshaft is in it. The 4-spd manual tranny is also rare and very desired. But, I am guessing the seller knew all this, unless it was something like an estate sale by relatives who did not appreciate the car.

Its a 600 with vac secondaries.Has 60 jets.Rebuilding carb right now power valve was blown. Then will see how it does may take it pigeon forge and see what is for trade

the vacuum secondaries are adjustable with springs so youll want a few different colors to play with. if you get a bog, go with a heavier spring that will delay the secondary opening, but Im afraid youll never need them opening. as with all carbs, you need to size them right to the demand of the motor, not the demand of the buyer.
