i just traded for this 472 Mopar Performance Crate Hemi and of course it's been sitting a while in the crate. My first impression would be tear it down and check everything before trying to start it. It was one of the Cummins built motors and I've heard some horror stories about them. Anybody have any first hand experience with these? I would love to hear some opinions. I've got a 6-71 BDS blower to stick on it, do you guys think it would handle that without additional upgrades? Thanks in advance.

My experience w/ 426`s are , that they are very tough in the bottom end, if they`re right. Just be sure of getting the thrust bearing lined up. But u probly know that! Small valve stems were the weakest part of them.

I think I saw you transferring this from one truck to another in the car corral the other day,,,,,,,,,,by the way im disappointed that I didn't get to your tent this year(not enough time in a day).................................................jeff

I actually didn't have a booth this year, I just had a 2012 Challenger in the car corral, and yes, that was me loading it. After reading some posts from way back when this was built by Cummins I think smart money would be to disassemble it and check everything out. They had decent parts but apparently there was not a lot of attention paid to detail when they were assembled. These motors were a little on the mild side too so I'm thinking about a cam upgrade and a set of aluminum heads, I've been considering the Edelbrocks. The intakes that came on these weren't much but Hemi intakes are easy to find.

Definitely tear it down, the one I got had a dyno sheet and all and that was not a dyno sheet for this engine as it didn't go one rev before a valve bent. A defective piston was the cause, valve relief were crooked.
Had to buy four pistons, rebalance and repair heads to make it right.
