I went to the supercruise last night from the s. edge of Heath to Buckeye Lake. I was really looking forward to it because I had to work out of town last year(the only year I missed since I started coming in 05) and it just wasn't even remotely the same, the worst one I ever went to. I know the police have to keep people safe but The whole vibe is so beyond subdued......
Very Sad...... A mere shadow of it's former fun-filled self.
Maybe about 1/3? at best of the amount of cars that used to run on 79.
I know the former Heath police chief was a big supporter(and Dart drag car owner himself) left just a couple years ago. So all the rest of Heath is so against it? Just because of complaints of a few businesses along half vacant anyway 79? So they yet again pushed it again further south right out of town.
It took forever to get through Buckeye Lake(even coming from the West off 37) and then hardly anything to see once we got through. No where too good to turn around anyway.
I sold my 67' Dart(which I took there from 12'-15') last year to a guy who lives in Heath, I was hoping to maybe see it back in action. No such luck. The supercruise was something I always looked forward to every year. I went to the actual nationals most years and am glad to hear at least it's improved with the new owners and GM there who is passionate for the event.
The super cruise is now officially over,to me anyway. The scene/golden era is gone. I'm gonna miss it.

They successfully killed one of the oldest cruise ins around me. Everyone local knew about Lews Cruise In, all makes and models, hundreds of cars filled all the parking lots, music, etc. One of the last years we went there were no less than 60 cops l, mostly bike, from all the surrounding cities and counties too, no joke more than 1/8th throttle pulling out and you were getting pulled over and ticketed, and don't even think about a hint of tire smoke and your car was impounded. Less than 2 years later that cruise in was dead and the business is no longer there (although that part I don't know it it is related)

It is sad, a personal stop my son and I would make.
I would drive down for the day, park in the "fun field" and eat dinner in Heath together and watch/participate in the cruise.
The last time I went they gouged me on the price of bringing my Mopar to the show and the cruise was visibly making a downward turn, and forget trying to cruise, they closed off lanes and congested the traffic so bad it wasn't worth it.
I will always have the memories, but no reason to go back.
I love the memories though, and I will always have them.

I went to Tri County for the show/ cruise..........I very much enjoyed the show......started to go on cruise out to lake and I sat I traffic for an hour(not fun with a clutch) then turned around and went back to Tri County for more show.Later I heard that you had to get out there by 6 or 6:30 or not go.................................................Jeff

The Nats itself was great. Best one I've been to in 10 years. As for Heath, I never even bothered. Heard the cops were cracking down and when I saw all of the state troopers headed that way, I wanted nothing to do with it.
Had dinner with friends on Brice friday night and there was probably 100 cars in a lot smoking the place up. The cops were there, but as long as they were on a privately owned lot, there wasn't much they could do. Just make sure that no one got hurt.

We went down to Buckeye Lake (just before it) and watch the cruise on the side of the road. I thought it was awesome. We were talking to the police, they are very cool with it just trying to keep everybody safe. Cars doing burnouts right next to them. They just wanted everybody (spectators) to stay off the road. They close it down around 11:00. I just do not think a lot of people know about it. The one Bad thing is they close it down to one lane on each side so traffic is backed up for a while.

I will go to the lake early next year.........and yes the Nats were awesome........................................Jeff

We had a blast at the Nats this year! My first time back since 2005. We met some great people out there and picked up a few parts. I thought the show and swap meet were great plus had fun watching the cars on the strip. I was surprised by the changes in cruise nights though from my last trip. Brice Rd looking like a ghost town other than the parking lot behind Burger King. That said the Heath cruise was still great! We are planning on making this an annual trip definitely going back again next year. Hopefully things are turning around for the Nats and it will be growing again!

We had a good time down in the Buckeye Lake area. Went down just to see the lake and all we can hear are cars doing burnouts! My buddy was like "screw the lake, there are cars doing burnouts and we need to get back there!" After a while we figured out that the police were letting people do burnouts!

We all had a good laugh when this
Chevelle died while trying to do a burnout, we saw it sitting on a tow truck later that night.

That Jeep that's behind it did some good burnouts throughout the evening, one time doing like a 20 second burnout with an officer sitting on a 4-wheeler and watching right across the street!

Thanks for the heads up guys! We will definitely check out the Buckeye Lake end of the cruise next year! Badlilred79 we saw your Dart at the show but you must have been elsewhere at the time. Otherwise we would have introduced ourselves to you. Thanks again for the Duster parts!

And speaking of Buckeye Lake, our group checks out PaPa Boos on the other side of the lake. What a happenin' place! I'm not a huge country fan but they had a kick *** band when we were there Friday Night. Papa Boo's - Buckeye Lake, Ohio
