Not a serious post clearly, but it would be fun which way the winds blow here. I am Installing Factory rallyes on my 71' Demon. Half of me wants whites out, as I'm old. the other half wants white letters. Unfortunately, Letters are out. I have new Tires, and they are 205/70-14 White walls. I am not buying more Tires. So, Do I go in or out?The car has the 340 scoops, trunk spoiler, and Demon 340 stripes

I would leave the Dog dishes on with white walls out and paint the wheels to match the car. I have seen a lot of 340 cars with dog dishes and white walls so to me its a very performance look, if the tires are the right size.

Whitewalls are NOT performance oriented. In looks OR performance. PERIOD. Old man cars have them. Old woman cars have them. Not performance cars. Blackwall or white letter tires have a performance look. Not whitewalls.

Now, the only exception being on older rat rods and or hot rods.

actually you are correct, the performance cars had redline tires (pre70) to differentiate them from the non performance white walls. However due to redlines being unpractical with availability and price, I have seen a lot of performance cars with white wall replacements. I still don't think they look half bad, and are definitely different these days when everyone has the same thing everywhere you look.

That is a nice Challenger! The whites on the color matched wheels look just like I remember in 1970.

I am also a huge fan of full wheel covers ...maybe it is the old lady look of 1970 but I cant get enough of it.

Some had blue line tires too.

black or letters OUTside. dog caps and wheels body color. or plain steel wheels in rear painted body color and mags up front, period correct mags, NO 17 in rims or bandaide tires for me! you asked!!

As long as wheel covers are part of the subject here. I should have a set of them off the 72 around here somewhere. I should gather them up and find a good home for them.

Thank ye barbee .. I have to locate them first .. Could be I took them to an alternate storage facility that is no longer available to me :(

all depends on the look you are going for...

period performance- white letters out
grand pa who bought it new - white walls out
sitting a little lower- blackwall out
