Remember your first Mopar ?

1999 got my first car and mopar all in one. I bought a 1969 Dart Custom 2dr with a blown slant that still ran/auto. Needed drivers fender and door 0 rust 225$. Dustin

1972 bought new. Two years ago I finally replaced it with same model, year and color. The replacement -'72 Demon , Top Banana.
Yote

Bought my first car in 1982 with help from my granpa. Freshman in high school 1967 coronet 500 gold black top gold inside 318 air pwr str. Kept it till sophomore sold it bought a 67 coronet r/t . 413 transplant factory 4 speed and 4.30 gears.

1981 it was a 73 340 4 speed Challenger with engine just built for 600 bucks. It needed all 4 ball joints with only 67k on it. I was trying to get a 440 six barrel Cuda but my mother said it was too much for my first car. Little did she know how much was done to that little 340!

My first MoPar was also my first new car. In August of 1969 I ordered a brand new '70 'Cuda. 340 4-speed, 3.91 gear, Hemi Suspension, Dark Burnt Orange with Black interior. I was looking at close-out '69s and the small town dealer took me to a nearby garage and showed me a '70 Barracuda (they hadn't been released to the public yet) We went back to his office and made the deal . . . then waited six weeks for it to be made and delivered.

In 1975 I had just turned 18. I got a loan from the bank, (Boy, did I think that was cool) & bought my first Mopar, a 65 Barracuda Formula S, in off white with green & gold metalflake and a red bucket seat interior. Wow this was so neat, no more 4dr Fords. It had the 273 Commando, automatic trans with consolette, mag-style hub caps & disc brakes. The only thing that had been changed, other than the color was the air breather. It had been replaced by one of those triangular air cleaners with the flammable foam filter. I was in love. So were most of my friends.
And that was it, it's been Mopars ever since.

"Prelude"........home on leave from RADAR school in Glynco GA, came home bought a 63 Chev SS 327 Pslide, and drove to San Diego, NAS Miramar, spring of '70. Early next spring bought a 69 383 RR, no photos that I know of. "His kid" had been bad, the old man wanted something slower for the kid. So I traded the 63 + some cash. Been downhill ever since LOL

My first....taken january 26, 1974, Cloverfield Blvd in Santa Monica Cal,,,,,Heading back to Edwards AFB.....Just had met my 1st ex wife....

Bought the car July 11, 1973....still have car...

72 Demon /6. Bought in 1982 for $200. Fixed rust, first complete body & paint. Sold year later $1600.
That was the start to my demented A body mopar brain.......

My neighbor had a 70 Challenger R/T, 383, 4 spd, 3.91. No power anything. Black w/burnt orange interior. No console, no nothing. I bought it in 79, and it had already had 5 owners! $800. I sold it a few years later after fixing/modifying/helping/hurting, etc. All the stuff a 20 y/o would do to it then. It is the one that got away.
It ran 14.40's on street tires, and w/ a switch to a 2.93 pumpkin, it ran away and hid from a Mazda RX7 on I95 south near DC. Never got out of 3rd gear and we were moving!

Primer black 65 Barracuda with a 68 340 in it. I think pops paid $800 (I paid him back $400) for it back in 85. The rear trans mount wasnt even bolted down and the A/T shifter was a rigged piece of linkage to a Mr Gasket "universal" shifter (just a rod with a T handle on top, no detents or lock outs) through the floor. 7.25 rear was on 4" shackles and the air shocks would hyper extend when rebounding from a bump, sounding like they would rip the floor out. Had 10" tires so the air shocks had to be pressurized to keep the fender lip off the tire. I paid the same amount in 1995 for my current 65 "S"! I took it to Art Carr transmissions to fix the rear mount and they kept my cal custom air cleaner lid! I had to go back for it, and they claimed it was off when they got it. Then I see it on top of a tool box! BUSTED!

June 1983, a 1970 Charger R/T, #s matching 440mag, auto, 3.55:1, B5 blue, black top, bumble Bee stripe, black vinyl interior, buckets, console, tic toc tach, am/8-track, had the scat pack bumble bee stickers in the quarter glass, the car was the coolest even in the condition it was in, especially when you're 17! It had two spun rod bearings from a broken oil pump drive hex, was sitting for sale in an apartment complex parking lot, bought it for $600 and seller towed it home for me. Spent the summer of 83 rebuilding the engine all with Direct Connection parts from Koller Dodge. Only picture I have of it

Mine was a 1974 Duster slant 6. It was a gift from my parents for getting good grades. Picture taken by my mom with a Kodak instamatic camera:

68 coronet 2 door. 318. Green and black vinyl roof. Drivers seat was power.

1969 just out of high school and I needed a ride to get to work. Dad found a low mileage 67 Dart GT 225 auto for $1100. Great looking machine in copper with black vinyl roof and black interior. After about a year I run her into a shallow ditch and bent the left lower control arm. She pulled like crazy after that so since I had a good job ($3.85 hr.) I traded it in on a 70 Swinger 340, 4 speed. My new Dart was a beast and I taught lessons to many big block Chevys, Fords and Mopars. My best run and my stupidest was with a 428 Mustang on the local bypass. I don't know who gave up first but at 140 we were door to door and backed out of the contest. I could only enjoy my Dart for about 8 months when Uncle Sam called me to duty so I traded her in for a 69 Rambler American and spent the next 4 years in the Air Force. Leap forward 47 years and in May of this year I finally bought another 70 Swinger 340 4 speed. She looks real good in the garage beside my 75 Vette and I get to exercise both of them on a regular basis.

My first mopar was a 70 Barracuda Gran Coupe. Dad traded a colored Tv for the Body around 1982. It was just a body when I got it and we restored it together. We put a 340/727 in it.

Fall of 1985 is when I finally bought my first Mopar. GTS 440 originally F5, built on January 14, 1969. Was one of the 20 Dart 440's delivered to Saddleback Dodge in Santa Ana, CA
