One tool every gearhead should have and why

Unconventional--- tighten your wobbles by degreasing and put a drop of medium strength locktite on swivel points. Flex it intermittently when it is drying.

Have a Milwaukee LED rechargeable work light. It has three brightness settings, swivels 180' , works for several hours on low setting which is usually enough light. If the battery gets low you can plug into a drop cord and keep working while charging.

Every tool i have is a must have, hoist, welders lathe tire changer balancer
This thread is full of awesome suggestions,
Im trying to keep it on the old school side of things, its hard.

A good set of drill bits, and learning how to sharpen them well,is one way to keep frustration to a minimum. Old stuff equals broken bolts.

Locktite is too expensive for my cheap ***. I just wrap a little tape around the universal.

Trying to find some good rubber tubing to slip over the universals.

The flash light that has a strap to wear it on my head. I can't see worth **** anymore, but when I can get light where I need it, it makes all the difference in the world.

A good light is hard to beat.off a service truck, wireless remote quit, so i hard wired a control and threw a couple batteries on a cart. Works slick under the hoist.

One of my favorite tools, my dad bought me a ratcheting T-handle for my taps, it is sweet, never seen one before, but it is slick.
It makes cleaning, tapping holes so much easier.

Bought tap sockets, pricey but i use them often.1/4" and 3/8" drive.
Bought a tray of used taps, good quality, previous owner pressed nuts onto the squares.brilliant!

A test light, well just because. No really its a quick way to test circuits and fuses etc.. It will verify power and ground quickly.

Also a hammer, well just because it feel good bashing something sometimes...they guy in the bay next to me used to get nervous when I used to say "I'm fixing to take this ball peen hammer all down the side of this piece of chit" when referring to a troublesome customers car...
