V-8 Valiant and Dart (Session 199) from the Master Technician's Service Conference

Ever notice how many early A bodies still have the original 273? Lots. Ever notice how many chevys still have 283 or 327 still, hardly any. Think about
how many of them where built compared to 273s maybe 10 times more.
Try an find a 283 today good luck, yet they where put on a pedestal back in
the day.

This is a 318, dressed as a 273, in My 65 Valiant. - I realize that the block should be red - Someday it will be. --

Ya, that's ok. My engine compartment should be gold poly metallic but yhe rust won over when I had the engine out. A spray can of gloss black won the toss.

I stayed with my 273 and built it up a little. Read the commando specs and tried to emulate them with a little extra sumtin/sumtin. I am glad I kept it and built it. It is the motor the car was born with, and now it has all the power my little car needs.
One factor in my decision was how powerful I could build 283's and 327's back in my misspent youth. I had a couple screamers. Hint-when you get older you spend a little on the suspension too. My finished 273 engine bay below.

283, none...327? Thats was like Chevy's 340: High RPM power.

I have a 327 in the barn along with the ":Camel Hump" heads. I also have 4 350 4 bolt main motors, a 273 on a stand, a 318 Magnum on a stand. And in the cars is a 273, a 360, a 440, and a Green Diamond flatty.

Well, that 327 would be a great one to build. But they all are cool

Yup it is a steel crank small journal that will probably end up in my 27 T the 350`s are used in Crown Vic`s for demo derby and the mopar motors are for the Barracuda`s and the 41 Chrysler 3 window coupe.

Just my opinion but I wouldn't use a 350 in my granddaughters learner car. But give me a 283 or 327 and I can build a motor! I do love my mopar motors now though, dream of owning a 340 someday.

The 350 does make a great derby motor and can be run empty on coolant for some time without damage. 305 is even better with a blown radiator.

I have this one and more. My grandpa worked for a Dodge dealership as a mechanic back in the day.
