Hi,
I am thinking of installing power windows in my 69 Dart Convert project. All 4 windows is what I am looking to do. The street Rod guys do it all the time so I am curious.... anyone in the FABO group install power windows in their A Body? If so, what do you use for the install, how successful was the attempt?

I ran "power windows" in the search and it seems there is a number of members asking the very same question....

Did you ever notice the Mustang and Lebarron verts with top and door windows down while quarter windows remained up? The reason was inop quarter windows. Mine was Lebarron, brothers still is Mustang. Far too much water goes into there ( and in many cases becoming solid ice ) for those motors and regulators to last. If todays engineering has cured that fault, todays vehicle is the donor to look for. Good luck with it.

I'm the one with the 66 dart convertible in the link 65 Dartman posted. After I reclocked the drivers side rear window and tidied up the wiring I found that it worked AWESOME! I did put the switches in(well console is not formed yet) the console section area and have it on switched power and relays.
I just helped a guy do a 65 satellite do power windows using the hotrod kit(Power Window Conversion Kits for Classic Cars and Street Rods) that has a center lift and a cross to keep it stable..

Lets just say I'll stick with my way when I am doing my wife's 66 dart. I was not impressed with the hot rod power window kits at all.

I've got a set of Nu Relics for the front door windows of my '70 Dart, they are a bolt in item and Electric Life Universal Colabri regulators for the rear. The universal motor operates the factory regulator from the regulator post

I installed a kit a few years back, drive unit goes on manual crank stub, a cover snaps over it to cover. Not the best but it did the job. Sourced through grandwest.com, have to find a dealer.

Electric Life has them. The brand I have is Universal Colabri and as you might guess they are Italian. They work just fine.

The kit i installed was SPAL. not the best out there im sure. 200 for two windows.

Here is the URL for Nu Relics for the front door regulators
1968-1970 Charger and Roadrunner Power Window Kit.
Call them and ask about regulators for the A body, it is the same one used in Roadrunners, Barracudas, etc. I bought mine from them so I know they have them.
For the rears, go to Electric life and then click on Universal Colabri for the rear window drive mechanism. These you will have to fit.

I'll be installing my regulators, front and rear, after the car comes out of the paint shop, it will be about a month and I can post pictures.

I see some hints of it in the posts, but there are power window kits for classic cars and trucks.
The ones that looked interesting to me had a motor that went inside the door with a wand that went between the door metal and the panel to use the existing regulator assembly.
There are a few different brands out there, and for the price thy seem like they might be worth a try.

TrailBeast, the Universal Colabri is of the type you speak of and they look like the picture shown on eBay. They took a little bit of fitting to put them in and the test runs are good. The proof will be with glass when the car goes back together in 2 months. The reason no one makes a bolt in regulator for the rear windows of the dart is because of all the compound sissor lifting going on in the quarter panel area there is not any room for an electric motor and drive

mines a 66 and it took some creative thinking to use stock regulators adapted for motors for the rear, fronts were easy. I couldn't find acceptable cable driven ones that would work in the rear for my early a.
Here is going to be your issue for some reason there is a lot less room in the convertibles in the rear quarter area. I know it can be done since I have seen a couple of 68 darts with power windows, but was unable to get an explanation on how it was done except "I wrote the check and they made it work". I did notice that the panels had been modified also.. sort of pushed out a bit. On pre 67's it's a bigger challenge than post 67 and you have a little better chance since the track for you window gives you a bit more room(and not as curved going down into the door) to get a motor and cable driven unit in there

I saw that and your post was one of the ones I referred to as being mentioned.
Here recently I tore all those regulator systems out and replaced the rollers, cleaned up and lubed everything so I know what you mean on those for sure.:D
A lot of people can't fabricate things, so the Ebay ones seem like a decent alternative.

I put one of those keyless entry kits in my car because I figured for 36 bucks I could buy a new one every year if it came to that, but 4 years later and not one problem with it.
Still even running on the same battery the remote came with, and that in itself is almost worth that. :D
