is it worth changing intakes?

ive got 79 360, stock thermoquad on it, ive got a 72 340 intake, would there be any performance difference if i swap them, or should i just put a performer on it?just looking for idle to 5000 power range. no other mods yet, 701 voodoo cam and headers r in the wings
this reminds me of those guys who want to put a k & n air filter on their engine. They add superficial geegaws chasing a mythical 5hp. Other than being made out of (heavy)cast iron, the factory TQ intake is a damn fine intake manifold. If you are determined to spend x dollars, then do it. But I'd spend your money more wisely, and get the most bang for your buck. A well chosen cam, and expect to budget for adjustable rockers and new pushrods, maybe a rear gear change will do wonders. Headers are good, but you get what you pay for. If you're only concerned about under 5k rpm, get some early 340 exhaust manifolds, then you don't have to deal with the downside of all headers.
