Just purchased a 68 Dart GTS and I'm looking to put Mag 500's on it. Is the bolt pattern 4 or 4.5 inch from the factory.

But keep in mind that while the 5x4" pattern was what it came with from the factory, that was 49 years ago and it might not be what's on there now. The upgrade to 5x4.5" is pretty popular, so, it would be worth measuring before you spend money on new wheels.

7/16" studs on the 4" BC, 1/2" studs on the 4.50" BC. All cars came with LH and RH studs/nuts regardless of stud size or bolt circle.

No they did not, especially if they were "converted.". The 73/4 Duster/ Demon brakes I used were all RH thread and those were factory

Reading is fundamental. I did not address "converted" cars, did I? OP is asking about a '68. At some point Mopar did eliminate the LH threads, but not on a '68 car.

Why bicker about stuff like this? Reminding the OP that the studs are (probably) L/R is a damned good piece of advice.

Reminding him that they also might not be is comparably good advice!

I agree that goodly percentage of the cars that have been kept and cared got to this day have been converted.

Changeover happened in '71. After that they were all RH thread regardless of pattern or lug size. '68 should be RH/LH but 1968 was a loooong time ago. Plenty of time for some kid at the local shop to blast the lh'ers with an impact in the wrong direction, forcing their replacement.

TSB from Chrysler/Imperial/Plymouth. I suspect Dodge was the same.

I have been a Mopar guy ever since the late 60's, I know what the left hand and right hand studs are and what year they were as I just sold my 68 Coronet R/T and it had the LH and RH studs but that wasn't my topic. I couldn't remember what size the bolt pattern the A bodies had from the factory NOT what thread they were.

Well if that's the case you got your answer in the first couple of replies! So, why not post a "thanks" way back there so we all know you got the information you were looking for?

Because the rest of us don't have any way to know you're a Mopar guy since forever that still didn't know about the 5x4" pattern. It's a pretty good assumption that someone that doesn't know about the 5x4" pattern might also not know about the RH/LH thread deal. And just having a '68 Coronet doesn't mean crap, because as it's already been pointed out a lot of cars have been converted to all RH threads in the last 49 years, and we have no idea if yours was or not just by looking at your screen name.

But hey, screw us for trying to help right?

You will get a lot more on this site and from its members with honey than you will smart *** comments!
