Another project

After roaming around on the Craigslist for a bit, I end up catching eyes on another classic car. This time it wasn't a Mopar, or another old Nissan, but this was an old 1979 Porsche 924.

When I went to go look at it the first time, the car has 0 rust on the body and I guess the owner before the guy who I bought it from had to car for around 20 years. It seemed to have spent it life in a garage and never was driven in a rough Midwestern winter. It only has 86,000 miles on it too, which isn't too shabby considering the age of the car.

The solid body and pretty clean interior was a big plus, but the car has trouble staying running. It starts and runs for about 2 seconds and dies, which sounds like a fuel issue. It has mechanical fuel injection, so my guess is that it would be a fuel pump for the injectors that is bad, but I have not checked yet. It has the Audi 2.0L engine in it, which is not that expensive to keep running surprisingly.

Despite the engine's fuel problem, which is hopefully an easy fix, the rest of the car is solid. The fact that is it a lightweight (weighs about 2400 pounds), rear wheel drive, and manual, you can't go wrong. These have a lot of potential and make great Autocross cars.

Hoping this project will be fun and that I can learn a bit about these old Porsches. They are intimidating due to maintenance and repairs, but these 924's don't seem too bad- it is probably a good beginner's Porsche. Wish me luck on this project!

Also, has anyone else ever owned an older Porsche, or heck even a newer one?
What were your ownership experiences like while owning one?
