Side pipes?

I have a 69 340 swinger, exhaust is well in its way to being rusted out, has any one ever put side pipes or heard of anyone who as? Just exploring exhaust options, as o now my current thinking is 2.5 inch pipe with flowmaster super 44's or the 10's. Side pipes are intriguing me though.
 
They can look good on anything if they done right and not chinsey. Keep your mind open about the AAR Cuda look, too. The two trumpets tips that come out in front of the rear tires. That has a more Mopar look, but side pipes could look cool, too.
 
Straight outta mad magazine, the thunderchicken eavestrough downspouts....thats what i think of when i see sidepipes.

I know they went away a long time ago, but they just installed them vertically and cut holes in the truck box.

The coolest thing you can do with exhaust,but its gotta sound right.
 
The car would need to have a lot of the other ques from the era. Air shocks, rear tires stickin out past the quarters.......you know, all that. Then it could look super cool. Like 70s super cool. Like this.

I couldn't find a good example of a Dart, but it can be done. It's real easy to make it look stupid though, so you need to be careful. Anyone that doesn't like that Challenger has somethin wrong with um.
 
There's always that one guy at the car show that is running side pipes with 17" chrome wheels and buckets seats out of a Caddy. The fuzzy dice and triple antenna really set it off. Don't be that guy lol.

had them on my dart sport in the 80's....they looked pretty good I thought.....they sounded awesome.....they drug some places though....had to be careful with them where you went

That's a good direction, man. You can pull it off. Just remember, there's more than side pipes to finish the look and you will get it.
