Hi, I have a bunch of condensers that were in Dads shop. Obviously I dont need all these and not even sure what they are from. Is there a way to test? I will keep a couple if they are any good. Hate to toss em if anyone can use them

Thanks
Steve

Steve I bet "Halifaxshops" or whatever his name is would like them

I have successfully rebuilt these by sawing them in half, pulling out the guts, inserting a new electrolytic capacitor and putting the pieces back together with some JBWeld. A little time on the wire wheel and they look brand new.

Electrolytic capacitor? Seems like a misapplication, for a pulsed high voltage requirement. The peak voltage may reach 500V, and the capacitance value only a few tenths of micro Farads. Also leakage of electrolytic is much higher, than rolled paper/aluminum capacitor, and frequency characteristics off too.

You should 'condense' the whole collection into one box....

They are prob junk Steve, the mopars have a part numer on the flat side of the can usually 7 numbers, yes the chineese are junk but you can still fine nos ones.

You have a capacitor meter by chance? If not what meters you have? There is a way with a Volt Ohm meter but it is kind of confusing.
