I bought my 65 Barracuda in 2004 from a college guy who needed money for tuition/books, etc. He contacted me the other day so I offered to sell it back to him (I have another thread on this in which everyone said sell it back since I've never done anything with it and probably won't!). He is unable to buy it back due to his finances so I'm offering it here. As I stated, I will probably never get to it in my lifetime as I've got my 65 Dart wagon to finish and my newly acquired 47 Dodge to rod it.

Here's the details: 65 Barracuda, original engine was a 273 2 barrel with a 4 speed and 3.23 7.25 rear end. The PO bought the car as a non-op due to a fenderbender the previous owner to him suffered. My PO bought a parts car and installed the fender, grille parts, bumper and lower valance. He should have installed the replacement door and aligned everything, but as he told me, he did enough to get the car on the road since he couldn't afford to do much to it. The original door on the car needs to be replaced with a replacement, which he included when he sold me the car. During the PO's ownership he and his dad patched the driver's and passenger front floors, installed new carpet (which needs replacing!) and installed the seats with new Legendary upholstery installed. The engine compartment wiring is kind of a mess - it appears that the PO did what he could to keep the car on the road. When he sold it to me, he said the engine had little or no oil pressure. I did replace the sending unit but that didn't change anything, so I'm guessing there was an internal problem with the engine. A friend and I pulled the engine and found the block was most likely cracked as it had one of those rubber expansion frost plugs in it and slathered with JB weld from the plug up to nearly the exhaust manifold. The PO told me he never knew about that "repair" and just drove it and added coolant periodically. The PO told me it was originally from Texas and sometime during it's life down there suffered some hail damage on the roof and trunk lid - he included a trunk lid from the parts car he bought when I got the car. The quarters and trunk area look to be in great shape. I forgot to get pics of the patches installed in the front floors. I would take a closer look at them after pulling the carpet and may need proper replacement. Other than changing the oil sending unit and pulling the engine, I've done nothing else to the car since I bought it in 2004. I will include the replacement door, trunk lid and new 4 speed carpet I did buy for it. The seats are still in like new condition so that is one less thing to install or repair. Since the original motor is (IMO) junk, this will be the perfect opportunity for the new owner to install the engine of his choice. Included is the original 833, original ball/trunnion driveshaft, bellhousing and associated parts. I (and the PO stated to me) do not and never had a fender tag for it. I ordered from Chrysler Historical whatever info they had on it (copy of the punch card and letter stating where it was sold with some info on the car and will include that. I have a clear Virginia title in my wife's and my name and will transfer it upon payment. We are located about 80 miles west of DC and 20 miles south of Winchester VA. I want $2500 for it; it's worth more than that should I part it out. What you see is what you get. Any questions, drop me a PM

Any pictures of the underneath?

Here's pics of the passenger and driver's side - appears to be flat metal rather than a factory style replacement panel with stiffening ribs. It's probably what a broke college kid could afford to do on the cheap! It appears solid but as I said, would require further investigation after the carpet was removed.

Not that far from me. I happen to have a guy looking for a project. He has a two barracudas and looking for another one or a valiant. I'll get this thread to him.
 
I have a local sale pending. He wants his bodyman to take a look at it, which should be either later today or tomorrow.
 
A local guy who told me if I ever decided to sell the Barracuda to let him know. Last Friday after I decided to sell the car, I gave him the call. I let him know everything that I knew about the car and have mentioned on this thread - the accident by the other owner, floor repair, the interior and the motor issue etc. I never knew the history prior to buying the car until I was contacted by the PO - was it seller's guilt? IDK! I would have wanted to know the history before buying it so I was being as honest as to what I knew. If I had known what I know now, I wouldn't have bought it! Since it had been in a some kind of accident, he wanted his bodyman friend to look it over. He came by this afternoon with his guy who works for one of the dealerships down near DC. The body guy looked it over pretty close and in his opinion, the car took a good hit on the driver's side - enough to put a crease in the frame rail in between the front of the upper control arm and the bumper brace as well as wrinkle the top of the core support a bit on the driver's side (which I had noticed when pulling the motor). Without removing the fender and splash shield, he said it's hard to say why the driver's door is having issues opening and closing - it may be related to the accident. He said the A pillar on the driver's side has a small crack where it meets the cowl which may or may not be connected with the accident (I never noticed that). He said that the firewall is slightly bowed in the middle. He commented on the floor "repair" and seriously doubted they were welded in place - probably pop riveted in place. Finally he said that the right rear lower quarter panel had some mud in it - said it looked "amateurish" and was wavy. The local guy decided to pass . As of right now I am taking the car off the market as I'd like a 2nd opinion so I have called MY body man friend and see what he has to say. My gut feeling right now is to just part it out - wife says I can't sell it as it's a liability and we could get sued and to just part it out.
 
My friend took a look at it and confirmed what I've already been told and mentioned the passenger A pillar is also cracked a bit at the cowl. He said if it were an expensive or rare car get it inside,tear it down and do it! It's a 65 273 2 barrel Barracuda - nope! Not gonna happen. My wife was right all along - I will post a parts thread in the next day to two.
