In 1978, Geoff Bodine entered 84 Features, and won 55 of them. This put Him in The Guiness Book Of Records, as the winner of the most races, in one season. --- I assume that Richie Evans was entered in many of those races. -- Does anyone have access to info, which would indicate how each of those Guys finished, in races that they were both in, in that year ? -- All Years ?View attachment 1715094416View attachment 1715094417

Problem is, this was way before NASCAR had any kind of "tour" for the mods. I think you'd have to look at the race results for every track they raced at, individually. I think that would be a huge task. If the information even exists some 40 years later. A lot of the tracks are gone. Best time ever for Northeast racing. I'm glad I got to see a lot of these epic races when they came to the CT/MA area!

It's gonna take a lot of legwork. At that time NE modified racing was pretty loosely "sanctioned". Many tracks were completely unsanctioned and just hosted an event. Many tracks had their own rules and you'd have to change all kinds of stuff on the car from night to night. Record keeping is poor at best. You'd probably have to search the archives for each track (and many are long gone). You can also try contacting Geoff, Todd, or Brett. They are all great guys and can't be that hard to get a hold of. I'm sure they all still have active fan clubs that you could contact.

-- I was a regular at Shangri La, in Owego, NY., and Oswego Speedway, in Oswego, NY., in those days. -- Geoff beat Richie, often. -- Not taking anything away from Richie. He was a Great Driver. -- But -- In my book, Geoff was MR. Modified. -- Obviously, The Modified Gods don't agree with Me, on this. View attachment 1715094414

I used to go to Thompson & Stafford Springs a lot. Riverside & Waterford on occasion. Thanks for the memories

Late '70s and for most of the '80s I can recall many great weekends going to Stafford on Friday, Riverside Park on Saturday, and them Thompson on Sunday! Special trips to Long Island, Pocono, even Martinsville were not out of the question either. I bet you could take in a good NASCAR-type Modified race 4-5 nights a week if you wanted to back then.

Plainville CT, Tuesday and Thursday, about as low rent as you could get.
Yeah, that was a tough place! "There was a fistfight, and then a race broke out!"
Drivers like Reggie Ruggerio, Jap Membrino, Richie Galullo, Dave Alkas, Stash Greger, Ronnie Rocco... I can't remember all of them. Great fun for $3.50 admission!

For some reason Jap Memdrino’s name just worked through my brain.
