Haven't posted in a long time. I have an oil filter that was stuck, and the cheap STP filter twisted when I used my filter wrench. I've tried everything, but a torch. Tried breaking the bolt on the block, and screwing the filter mount off.

I would try as chisel next?
Start on the outside, maybe shock it, move to the inner ring and see if it will free up?

You ARE turning it LEFT aren't you?
I looked close at the photo, he is turning it leftie-loosey.
Im suprised air hammer didnt move it. I would keep at it- it wiil go. Next time use clean motor oil on the gasket surface. Nothing else will do.usually fram does that with that extra gription stuff on the filter.

Had this happen on my w200, only choice here is the torch

Sears sells a set of long chisels, using the air chisel will do it too if it is a short-stroke hammer, they're more progressive/control-able. Just concentrate on the outside ring of
the base, if You get it to move keep workin' it around, if You split it there it should loosen up &/or You might get the edge to fold up & use a drift/punch on it.
After almost 33yrs. of fixin junk professionally, I still can't understand why some think installing oil filters is a test of their manhood, ....drainplugs too..........

Truck has been sitting for years. I'm just now trying to get it running. I'm gonna keep bashing it

what you need is a tool that will fit in the holes, like the tool you use to tighten or loosen discs on a cut of wheel

i would get a piece of flat stock, drill a few holes in and put some bolts through the holes 10-24 1/4-20, whatever fits

wait
stop
hold on

i got it

get yourself a 1/2 drive extension and take the stud out
then once that is out, you should be able to spin the remainder of the filter off

Thats it! Should free up if you can get the stud loose.

Big ratchet.or a hefty impact.you need my howitzer.3/4"and heavy. Doesent seem like it hits hard but it does.not likely loctited but theres a chance, hit it with some heat.

I'm going to buy a propain torch sometime tomorrow. Thanks for all the replys. will keep updated.

You could try a inside pipe wrench on the mounting stud.Is there a hex inside the
mounting stud,if there is try a large allen wrench.
