I need to replace the torsion bar cross member on my 67 Notch Back (I've acquired the replacement part already ). Do I need to add temporary support under the car to keep it from buckling/ sagging while I have the old one removed, or will it be just fine? Thanks in advance, Dennis.

That is the transmission mount cross member. Or am I missing something?

I would think you would be okay. With both the torsion bar crossmember and the tranny crossmember both cut the way they are, the strength is already gone. Assuming the floorboard and the rockers are solid, I don't see anything moving around. Rod

I appreciate the input but I really want an answer not opinions. I don't mean to be rude.

I understand your concern, but the crossmember does essentially nothing to prevent buckling end to end, it adds strength rotationally to the structure. Why don't you just add the bracing to give yourself peace of mind?
