2015 CADILLAC SRX LUXURY AWD

Not a problem Brian. Here in New Brunswick when a car is written off for any reason by the insurance company it is given a salvage title. When the vehicle is fixed and re-registered it gets a certified rebuilt title. Part of this process is an inspection by the province to insure that the vehicle is fixed properly. This includes an alignment check to insure the frame is within factory spec and a very rigorous inspection of the entire vehicle. This is far past a safety inspection.

In the case of this SUV the rear carrier, (differential) locked up for some reason. I didn't take it apart to see what broke but I could hear loose parts in it. With the rear locked the tires locked up and the driver lost control and skidded into a curb. This broke a front wheel and the rear driveshaft. When the wheel broke it also bent the strut on that side and ruined the rotor and 2 tires. It also skidded on the frame but the only damage there was the front plastic belly pan. All parts were replaced with new parts except the rear carrier which was replaced by a unit with 4000 miles on it.

Hope this helps.
