Any reconditions on what is required for a 727 on the street? I currently have a 68 transmission for my big block with a trans go 2 kit in it. Any chance of it surviving? Andrew
I have a 3200 Dynamic from Frank Lupo.Your trans and its internals (like every other sub-assembly on your vehicle) should all be built to work together for how the vehicle is going to be driven. Just out of curiosity, what conv do you plan on running?
I had the transmission fully rebuilt and had the Trans go 2 kit installed. The car is mini tubed with Caltracs and QA1 shocks and 325/15/50 Street Radials. Still probably won't hook up, but it won't be like driving in the snow either. AndrewOne thing you didn't mention was this transmission your talking about ever rebuilt, or just an old trans with a shift improver kit slapped in it? IMO A fresh properly built stock 727 with nothing more than a TF-2 kit should survive a long time. You do have an early model with the narrow front reaction shaft bushing but if the end play was set correctly I've seen them last a long time.
The 2 biggest things that make or break a trans in a HP application is how well it was built and does the car hook up. You could have 750 hp but if all the car will do is blow the tires off a stock trans would live behind it a long time
Thanks, I have both already. Also controlling trans temp with big cooler and deep pan.
Good point Kim. Good advice as always. Thanks AndrewU need a converter built for use with a trans brake. No need for a brake on the street, of course u don't need to use it if it's in there. Then u need to clearance the tranny differently and use a 5.0 front servo apply lever. Kim
