Make sure the ignition box is grounded GOOD. Often times, rust and crappola will cause the ground to be disrupted. The body of the box should have a clean, metal to metal ground wherever it is mounted. Some people even run an extra wire from a mounting screw to the inner fender or firewall, though not necessary as long as the box itself is grounded good.
