72 Demon

I haven't dove into much research on this yet, but I've seen conflicting answers. Id say it looks bare without a "Demon 340" decal, but maybe the place I purchased the decals led me to believe nothing goes on the tail. I've got plenty of time, so opinions and research are welcome.
Excellent job.

Are you doing a numbers matching resto? If not, I wouldn't sweat it. I actually get a bit annoyed when I take my cars out and guys nit pick what is not factory. Most of them drove to the show in a Chevy....lol

It's your car, build it like you want it. That is why we love our old cars. None of them are the same!

The '72's did not have the trunk lid decals.

Due to the religious backlash against the name Demon in '71, the cartoon demon graphic was discontinued on the fenders and trunk for '72.

The '71 340's had the decals on the fenders and the trunk, the '72's had the metal "Demon" and "340" badges on the fenders only.

If you look closely, you'll see that the tail stripe treatment differs between the '71 and '72 cars.....the '71 cars have an additional tab under the demon decal to provide a black background for the decal to sit on. Decal manufacturers like PCG and Phoenix have both year tail stripe treatments available. That said, I'd order the '71 decals and put them on your '72.....the trunk looks a little bare without the cartoon demon on there :)

Awesome job! Question how were a pillars repaired? Welded filled with filler or what method? My car also has indent or pitting there.

Update, not the best pictures, but the project is moving along. figured id post just to keep fairly current with the progress. Interior is mostly complete less the headliner, door panels, seats, seatbelts, front and rear glass. Motor is at the machine shop moving along, but no trans yet. This car will be a pure stock/fast class mix. hopefully a quick pure stock car, but a slow fast class car.
