The coil on the hood hinge on the passenger side of my 72 Scamp- dart, Duster probably same... has slipped off the hinge bracket. I hope not to have to remove the fender- esp with the rocker molding to deal with. Haven't been successful yet working through gaps of fender.... Any one able to slip it back on- takes quite a bit of force-
thanks in advance

I would think you should bite the bullet and remove the fender. You might even find something broken.
Sometimes more work is what has to be done.

When I was a skinny kid I could reach my arm down through the hinge gap at the top. just enough to slip it onto the post. I tried various methods to secure it there, none really successful.

pulling the plastic splash gaurd in the wheel well might work instead of the whole fender

The parts simply unbolt. It's ok to be nervous, but it's not a big deal to remove the fender and fix it right, then reattach and align carefully. Use tape on the edges if you are that concerned when you reassemble.

Try removing the inner splash shield and go in from there.

Seems like a good idea- may find it is broken after I get there.

The problem with removing the fender is removing the rocker molding- don't want to remove the whole thing- clips etc - easy to bend the rocker molding- I didn't think about the innerfender - may be the easiest way
thanks folks
