What to look for when inspecting A833OD?

I bought an A833 overdrive transmission earlier this summer, and I'm just now getting around to inspecting it tonight. I bought it for $250 from a guy who said he rebuilt it in '95 and then stored it inside until I bought it in July. The input shaft was covered in grease to protect it, and he said he filled it up with fluid to protect the internals from rusting. The transmission itself is an a body 1976 unit that most likely lived it's whole life behind a slant 6 (it came with a /6 bellhousing). I don't know what to expect, everyone's version of "rebuild" is always slightly different. Is there anything in particular I should keep my eye out for? Tolerances, etc. I've never been inside one of these transmissions before. I'll also post pictures as I go along. Thanks!
