68 GTS 340 (4-spd) RADIATOR (NEW REPLACEMENT??)

$895-$1195 for a radiator?
That's for a radiator with the correct part number. Recoring is less. Even a custom radiator can be less - mine was. It depends on the parts availability etc.

I would like to have my original re-cored, but finding shops that actually still do this is very hard to find in my area...
Keep asking around, check the yellow pages etc. Dick's Radiator in Pottstown will do 'em but that's a heck of haul. For the time and fuel you might as well send it to Glen-ray.

Tip. When you get it back, hunt down and use conventional antifreeze with inorganic inhibitors. The conventional antifreeze may not last as long as the new hybrid organic acid inhibitors but it starts protecting immediately. More important, it provides protection for the soldered copper.*

*Inhibitors that protect solder are phosphates and molybdates. Sometimes these will show on a label or data sheet. More often it will say "phosphate free" because that's what some of the newer cars require. So at least that's a clue its probably not the right stuff for a car with soldered copper.
