I don't think that is true. I just finished this conversion on my b-body. I did not realize mine had been converted to the larger 1 1/4 pitman arm when I ordered my 1 1/8 Borgeson box. I replaced the pitman arm and idler arm ( both were bad) but did not have to replace the center link when I reverted back to the 1 1/8. The holes on the center link i had accepted both the 1 1/8 and 1 1/4 pitman arm. There was a change in the idler arm on later models that coincided with the pitman arm change. This increased the length of the idler arm to correct some steering geometry issues on the early systems.
