After sorting through my stuff getting ready for my V8, 4 speed swap..... trouble. I see that my Lakewood is for the larger bearing retainer 4 speeds. I see that Brewers makes an adapter ring. Has anybody used this? Is it a weld in item? Curious if anybody has used one.

You place the ring around the bearing retainer and then use a couple of the bearing retainer bolts with large washers underneath to hold the adapter ring in place. They hold the ring against the face of the trans.

You can machine out a ring and weld the ring into your current scattersheild. I did that with mine and ran it for a few years like that.
I am actually selling one now for an overdrive.
Debating on making another ring and welding it in to sell because nobody seems interested in the overdrive setup

$29 for the ring. I’d spend more time value than that having it machined. Thanks for the ideas.

the ring fits tighter on the bearing retainer! not in the bellhousing. you'd play hell getting it in and out! also, the washers do keep it in place, ran one for bout 30 yrs. never had a problem.

This is what it looks like on mine. Make sure your washers dont extend past the outside of the spacer and dont be afraid to put a little thread sealer on the bolts.
