Hi All,

Trying to tell what motor and transmission are from etc. Below are numbers I found on castings.

Engine: 1-6-70 R321171 2780930-340-7
Transmission: 2B113905 C99129H PP 833 6633 0 53
Rear differential:2881489 Looks to have 3.23 gears from doing rotation test.

I may have made mistake writings numbers down as everything is covered with paint. Alittle bummed as seller said car was matching numbers. VIN number is 142867.

The motor ID # is stamped on a machined spot on the front of the engine block just below the drivers side head. This should be a match to your fender tag VIN. The transmission has a number stamped into a machined boss on the passenger side of the case. Again the last series of # should be a match to the VIN. Good luck!

block was cast Jan. 6, 1970. 2780930=casting number for all 340 blocks. R321171=last 7 of vin, R= engine assembled in Windsor Ontario. 2B=1972 assembled in Hamtramck, MI. 2881489=tapered pinion, 1.875" rear diameter and 1.375" front diameter-I do not think they came in a 1970 a body

you can also go to mymopar.com and research under Tools/Reference for vin tag info or most anything else. Also casting numbers for heads, motor, exhaust etc

Just a note, the number on the front of the engine is the engine specific serial number for that engine only.

The partial VIN on the block that would match the car VIN if it is still original is down low on the passenger side of the block. ;-)
