Hey on my dart slant, the 66, I put one one of those MO3000 rotors, it was tight. NOw one year later I inspect it and the little tang on the rotor is loose? Isn't that a concern? Or does it not matter??
Is there a fix, or just replace. I am pretty sure it has Lifetime warranty?

Look at the stud connectors inside of the distributor cap, see if there is evidence of the rotor tip contacting one or more terminals inside the cap. A high milage distributor will have internal wear on the main shaft and distributor body and excessive runout will allow the rotor tip to contact the cap terminals. If that looks good, take the rotor back for an exchange.

They (whoever they are) warn about hitting the cap if it's not absolutely centered with the MO3000 rotor, especially with some aftermarket manufacturer's caps.
It could also be heat cycle related, but it should be replaced in either case.

I have had many issues with Echlin products. Just sayin'

MO-3000 is old info, number one. Read this thread—it's long but worthwhile.

Number two, the loose tang you're seeing is an old problem—like at least two decades old. Pry the rivet out the rest of the way, put a drop of Loctite, reinstall the rivet and clamp it firmly into place with a bench vise or (carefully) a pair of pliers. Give it an hour to set up.

Great ideas. So check this out. The rotor looks to be making full contact with the terminals, as the tip is worn and grooved down. Also lots of metal "dust" in the cap and in the distributor. What does this all mean? This is a NOS distributor I bought last year. I have put maybe 200 miles on it. It can't be worn out?? Of course now that the terminals are nicely worn down, maybe I need to stick with a lower profile rotor? Or ??? Custom something?? The cap I am using is that Blue CH410. Help.... In the meantime I am getting that Distributor Recurved, so I hope it isnt funked up.

Replace the cap and use a stock rotor.:D
The distributor can get cleaned out when it gets recurved.
Problem solved.

It all means you should do as I suggested in the first line of post № 5 of this thread.
