hi new here. and bad using a computer. my Scamp is never been restored body anyway. 1970 340 pretty much stock other than nitrous. 904 transmission with gear vendor overdrive 410 gears. i have been a bodyman all my life. not much on knowing how to make my Scamp go faster but i'm all set up with restoring the old girl. hope you all can help me make her go better and I would help you with your paint and body work if you need it.

yea I retire next year so i have more time to help others. but been having a hard time figuring what my 340 is set up with. just want to have some fun with my car before we both get buried.

Welcome Fred,
How about a few pics of the scamp. Here's one of my '69 Dart Swinger 340

she needs to be restored but is in good shape. I wish she was a 68 dart swinger but i'm on a budget. most all the paint is factory got the sun roof working. for you out there with a sun roof that doesn't work maybe i can help. surperchargeddrt nice ride

the paint is all factory but left fender and some on the left quarter. she has a sun roof that now works. wish she was a 1968 dart swinger but i'm happy with her. superchargeddt that is a nice ride.

Twice is nice, Fred. That's the factory color of my boys 73 Scamp. I've tried to talk him into going back but he likes the orange it is now. Nice car.

i'm thinking of going a candy brown but so far ill have to mix it my own way i just can't find the color i like. not a lot of brown scamps out there but when I was a kid they were everywhere

That is one nice looking Scamp. I used to hate browns and even bronze (which was the original color of my car) but as life went on I started to like it more and more. If it wasn't so much money and time I would change mine back to the original bronze/ white top and white interior. Anyway looking forward to more progress pics of your car and once again WELCOME!

iv'e got lots of time to restore my car but I do body work and paint 5 days a week and don't feel like doing on the weekends. and of course not enough cash. I retire in less than a year so i'll get going on it then. now I'm trying to get the running gear set up it's been lots of fun. just had my 904 rebuilt and installed a gear vendor overdrive so now I can keep my 4:10 gears and still keep up with traffic. best improvement I've done so far.

I want one of those Gear Vendor OD badly. How is it working for you? Hard to install?

I wanted to do it my self but didn't have the time so I took it to a tranny shop. it took me awhile to figure it out but it's great if I need them I have 6 gears. the hard part is when i'm going hard through the gears if I don't shift the tranny just right with the over drive it will drop down a gear instead of going up. the over drive shifts faster than the tranny. it gives me about 30 more horse and about 60 more ft lbs tourqe. cost was 3'000 but i'm worth it. they say it will handle 1500 hp. the down side is you have to change the fluid in them about every 2000 miles. but it's only 1 quart of dextron

Wow,
Even though you have to change the fluid every 2000 miles it would only be once a season. I would just add that to my once a season oil and I would call it good. I only put about 300 miles on in a season but that might change when I get my 416 installed.

it would be nice to let you try my car out to see if the gear venor would work for you. if you ever get up this way come over I'll let you take her for a spin

Wow that's really generous Fred. Maybe some day if my job travels take me in your direction. Where are you by the way?
