kids need mom and dad to stop watching tv or whatever they do and spend time with them.I shut off my tv or anything that took away from my family time to be and here my children

I agree, which is one of the many reasons we do not own smart phones. We have old flip dumb phones that do not text, or even get email. I could not see being so rude as to ignore my wife on date night being tranced out by my smart phone. How RUDE would that be? People need etiquette lessons. Can you say cotillion?

yea we lived 5 years in the wilderness no power or running water this is another story so I'm sorry but I'm not sure how you can have kids today without a smart phone

The same way you had kids 30 years ago. WITHOUT a smart phone.

Having a smart phone and using it appropriately are two different things. The smart phone gives you a great deal of capability that you can use to your benefit. Choosing to live your life inside one will drag you down into oblivion.

With great power comes great responsibility.

Technology isn't evil, how it's used can be.

I happen to think smartphones are not "great power". I wonder how many millennials know what the phrase "World Book" means? Not many, I bet.

Sorry, but I completely disagree that internet and smart phone technology is a good thing.

Let me give this example. You have a man whose been a mechanic for forty plus years. Suddenly, the whole world has access to what he has spent a lifetime learning. A LIFETIME.

That's a lifetime waking up and going to work every day. For forty plus years. A lifetime of putting up with the boss's bullshit. For forty plus years. A lifetime of pulling other peoples' weight at work, in the REAL world. For forty plus years. A lifetime of probably being paid less then he's worth. For forty plus years.

Suddenly, the internet appears with all the same information he's spent a lifetime of learning over forty plus years available to everyone on the planet. For scott free and without all of the trouble he had to go through to get the experience.

What say you about that? "Too bad"? I bet so. While the forty year experience mechanic has "real" experience, now he has to be nullified buy all of the now "experts" the internet has created overnight....all at his expense.

Nice, huh?

I understand and so true

Kitty and I have a local Mexican joint we frequent on the occasion for supper. They are the usual style joint with a bar and serve alcohol.

Tonight, we went and they were very busy. The whole time........from start to finish there was a very young child (probably under two) squealing, shrieking, screaming as loudly as it COULD. After about 20 straight minutes, I said "VERY" loudly.....people in the kitchen probably heard me, "That's ENOUGH of that screamin". My voice is boombing and very bass, so I know I got the point across. The screamin DRASTICALLY decreased.

So, what's your opinion here? I am of the thinking that children below a certain age, (my thinking is under 12), have no business even IN a place that serves adult beverages.

Maybe archaic thinking to some, but I believe that YOUR rights end where MINE begin. These parents were totally ignoring the child's screaming and were both tuned out on their cell phones. I don't go out to PAY for hearing a brat scream.

What say you? Was I rude? Not that I really give a crap......I'd do it again. lol

It's a parenting problem...

If my kids got too out of control, she would bring them to the car and I would settle the bill and we would leave... We were aware of not letting our kids bother others in public places... They had to learn to behave to be with us in public...

I would have yelled out to the parents to stop that kid from crying or I would give it something to cry about...

Not rude at all, id have shaken the life outta that baby. Jk

Cell phones have taken our attention from common sense, common decency and consideration for others...and aimed it at a screen.

The fun part happens when you have to explain where they are wrong even tho they saw it on utube, and even worse have to fix it after they have bollixed it up.

Not rude at all.

A month or so ago, I was in a taco bell, and some kids were running around like animals and I told them to knock it off and behave. Their oblivious parents had the audacity to be pissed off at me. **** 'em.

it all boils down to respect!! the parents should respect the public enough to control there kids!! if the parents wont then the restaurant manager shoulda politely addressed the parents on the matter!! but nether of these happend! that left it up to you and rest of the folks there to stand up for your selves and demand the respect each and every one of ya deserve! it ant the kids falt its the parents and way thay were raised by there parents,..its a circle of cause and effect or lack there of! every body got the right to go out an eat till there lack of manners inpune others rights to peacefulness! these new phones and there technology are great and are as addictive as any drug we know of! dont mind folks on there when thay eat long as thay leave them alone when thay drive as not to impune some ones rights to life!

TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU ON THIS YOU ARE MY KINDA GUY, **** UM'

It all goes back to simple parenting. I realize there are different circumstances. If thats the case, then use your brains as if not to be a
nuisance to others trying to go out into public to enjoy someone serving them for a change. Go elsewhere to accommadate that possible situation.
I dont think that is too much to ask for.

If you want come on up but I'd wait till spring it gets -40 here and I'd hate to send you home frozen. lots of open country it's mostly crop land. most of the wheat comes from here. but when I take my scamp for a ride we can go and fry the tires at almost anytime. flat land mostly, like a pancake. not to many trees, but I have 11 ever greens in my yard. got bugs no bad ones got lots of birds that **** on everything. lots of deer, in the winter when I get up at 5 am there is at least 12 deer going down the road. the cars that pass by my house on any given day is maybe 5 going to work everyday I pass about 12 cars and most of them I know. Yea it's cold and we get bad storms but I love a good storm. when I moved here in 1999 my first storm had hail the size of baseballs, it was fun to watch. not to many like that, my cars never had hail damage. tornadoes yea a few I live in a mobile home I go find them before they find me. love it here. so I'm crazy Iv'e got freedom

I would never let my kids do that but if you raise them right they wouldn't do that. I have 8 kids

OH, and by the way.
Go to the damn restroom to blow your nose ya frickin disgusting noise making pig.:D

One of my peaves.:D
THANK YOU!!!!
It amazes me, that the same generation who's mothers taught them to carry a handkerchief, doesn't have the sense to not use it at the table!
I have said something to people about it too. Little worse than eating and listening to someone blow their damn nose! Last time the guys wife demanded that I be removed from the restaurant. When the mgr came to talk to me, I asked him how it was any different than me sitting there cracking gas? None! Don't do it!
having to listen to that garbage would annoy me more then any kid screaming thats for sure.
Again, THANK YOU!
Believe it or not, not everyone has the same religious or political views as you. Keep it to yourself or don't get offended someone else has a different opinion.

, when I was little that crying would have lasted about 10 seconds. I mean 10 seconds or even less. Disruptive or rude behavior was not tolerated with my parents.

I'll agree with Fishy68, serving alcohol is not really the problem. I'm o.k. with a child in that type of restaurant as long as the parents don't order it at their table. Management should be immediately notified of any drunken behavior.

I would think talking to the parents would have been the more polite way to handle it but, hey, you got the desired results without busting someone's nose.

NOT SCREAMING BACK IN TIME, I HAVE VERY BAD HAND TREMORS AND IT IS JUST EASIER FOR ME TO TYPE. SORRY IF YOU ARE OFFENDED BY IT BUT MOST OF THE GUYS ON HERE UNDERSTAND MY MEDICAL CONDITIONS AND IT DOES NOT BOTHER THEM IN THE LEAST. SORRY IT OFFENDS YOU, NOT INTENTIONAL I ASSURE YOU, BRIAN
