Disc Brake Spindle Install

I'm installing front disc brakes on my 1970 Duster, but unsure which spindle goes on drivers and which on passenger side. The box arrived without any indication of LH & RH.

I'm assuming the pic below is for the drivers side... is that correct?

Also, neither spindle would match up to the MOOG lower ball joint arms that I bought. They are for 1970 year model. Will the 1973 ball joint arms be okay to use with my 1970 steering center link? I believe the 73 ball joints will work with the spindles I have.

They fit either side, just need to know if you are mounting the brake calipers in the front or the rear. The rear is the most common.
 
Hmmmm, okay. I will mount the calipers to the rear. I'm guessing that the larger holes at 1 & 4 o'clock (right next to the small holes) are for the caliper mounting bolts... which would put them in the rear position. Is that correct?

They will work on either side....Depending on where your caliper are mounted, front or rear....Can be mounted either way...
 
Might have to enlarge one of the mounting holes, the tie rods mount to the lower ball joint, and any A body should work. BUT I might be wrong about that...

Yes correct about the mounting holes..the small holes are for the dust shield...
 
yes you need the 73 and up lower ball joints and yes they will work with your center link. with no issue
 
The spindles can be mounted on either side, it determines whether the calipers face the front or back.

If you’ve got a ‘70 and are using the 73+ style spindles and calipers then you want to mount the calipers to the rear if you have a sway bar. You’ll also need longer brake hoses if you do that though. If you don’t have a sway bar you can mount them to the front and use the stock hoses.

And yes, you’ll need 73+ lower ball joints. They changed before that but it’ll be easier to just use ‘73 up parts so you get the right stuff. They’ll work fine with your tie rod ends.
 
I am running a sway bar, so rear mount it is. Any recommendation on which supplier for the longer brake hoses? Are we talking 1"-2" or like 4"?

Apparently what you need is brake hoses for a ‘69 Camaro with front disks. Haven’t done it myself, but that’s what DoctorDiff has been recommending.

You must mount the calipers toward the rear if you are working on an A-body with a '72 and older sway bar.

'80 and newer F-body calipers and '69 Camaro front disc hoses work nicely when mounted toward the rear.

'79 and older F-body calipers and '73-'76 A-body front disc hoses work nicley when mounted toward the front.

It’s a brake hose. Unless you go braided stainless they’re probably all made in Mexico or China anyway.

If you need longer hoses and want Chrysler hoses, F-body, such as Aspen/Volare' hoses work. This was the solution long before the internet.
Either Chrysler hose has a short piece of steel tubing at its caliper end that keeps the flexible portion away from wheel and tire and prevents any movement stress at the banjo bolt, no matter how worn, weak, soft, hardened, whatever. I don't know how GM did things. Maybe a braided stainless hose moves differently. Maybe braided stainless F-body hoses cost a heck of a lot more than the Camaro hose. The Camaroo hose makes good cents? Good luck with it

Yup, that’s the way the factory did it. It’s just the 67-72 sway bar with the 73+ style brakes where you need to mount the calipers to the rear for sway bar clearance. Even then some people have mounted them to the front, but you have to shorten the end links if you do that and it’s tight.

Ok thanks I already have the braided hoses for front caliper position for when I put it all together and would hate to have to buy another set
 
Camaro hoses fit A/B/E bodies with rear mounted '80 and newer slider calipers better than the F-body version.
