Hello all, looking for help!

I reused some super 40 mufflers on a mildly cammed SB.

exhaust system is all welded together, and this thing is LOUD, for my maturing taste anyways...

I'm aware of the dynomax cone inserts, but they are crazy expensive, and they don't come in 2.5 inch.

Is anyone aware of any inexpensive muffler inserts that I can stuff into the tail pipes, or perhaps even a bolt on exhaust tip that integrates some kind of silencer?

Ebay has all kinds of ricer junk... I really don't want to hack out my flowmasters (just because they are already welded in) and replace them with fiberglass packed mufflers that will sound like junk in a year anyways....nor do I have the money to put a corsa or borla on it.

appreciate the feedback and suggestions!!!

When I had my Magnum R/T I used some short glass packs at the tips, it really helped noise at cruise. Bottom line, you have a chambered muffler, the fix is a different muffler.

What about an H pipe? possibly hush it down a bit? or not really?

The old washer welded to a bolt trick in the exhaust pipe to quiet it down a notch.

Budget fix? We thought a muffler swap? Which is what is really needed...

Magna Flow glass packs retain the interior Diameter though out. The longer they are the more quiter they will be. Can you install them after the mufflers?

A good budget fix would be a 2.5" motorcycle baffle in each tail pipe. Done.

It crossed my mind to throw glasspacks inline as resonators. It didnt cross my mind to replace my $200 exhaust system with a $1200 exhause system. Lol. Yes i agree a new muffler is the "best" answer. But its not in the budget.

If you have the space a pair of glasspacks would work, like mentioned. They shouldn't hurt your flow much either.

I have looked at these to quiet down a drone I have on one of my cars. About $50 a side and I see them listed on Amazon and eBay too. Car Chemistry Automotive Performance Products

I haven't tried them yet.

I also used some cheap, short (12"?) glass pack muffler on the tailpipes of a convertible that had some loud mufflers. That worked very well for me. I put them in just before the tips, kind of where a resonator would be. They were still working well for me until I replaced the entire system.

You could also add a Hemholtz resonator to the system. That shouldn't be a lot of $$ if you can build and install them yourself. There's plenty of info on the intrawebs about them, but here's an example.
