would 72 duster 6 cyl. wiring harness work on a 76 dodge dart 6 cyl.?

I wiuld think so, check both diagrams out in the FSM's

Sorry Factory Service Manuals, free on MyMopar, need a link?

I doubt it very much. Even year to year there are (sometimes minor) changes. But from 72 to 76 there were A LOT of changes.

Worse, starting in 73, the way the service manual presented diagrams completely changed. This makes some things easier, but following as in a "line drawing" is next to impossible.

Do you have the original harness? A much better plan would be to rework it. You can get terminals for most of the connectors

Read this thread and go to post 40. I made a "darn poor" copy of the 76 wiring from a paper manual and we posted it

There were multiple revisions, changes, options and style changes from even year to year.

That's exactly right. The only way to swap a harness is to do it complete - both dash and engine, rear harness, headlights, etc. Easier to contact Evans Wiring and buy what you need.

i called Evans and he said he doesn't make anything past 74!

76Dart273, thanks i printed out that darn poor copy. it was Great! so i'm left with getting a complete harness from a 74 dart and go front to rear.
or i might be able to get a new one from Yearone!

when I was looking for a 76 harness, I could not find one anywhere..ended up having to rewire the car with the Painless kit.

i thought about that but painless looks too painful!

moparblood, The painless was not too bad actually. I took my time and went slow. I think when all was said and done I had 2 wires flipped around and they were for lights...so really it was nothing bad. I think I had about 20 hours or so into the wiring.

The 74 may actually be worse than 72 due to the seat belt interlock system.

Post some photos. If the damaged ones are the "more common" ones you can replace them. You can get terminals for most of the connectors. I would not be adverse to just using a different TYPE connector unless you are going for "restore correct."

RedFish has mentioned on here, there is one white colored connector in the engine bay, you would be wise to splice around it and eliminate it. They are troublesome

It is possible, "with some wire" to lay the harness out EG on plywood, nail / screw and tie it to breakout points, mark, photo, take notes, etc, and replace "wire by wire" and "terminal by terminal"
