this is a on a new to me '68 383 with a Summit 08600VS (600cfm) 4 barrel, 4 spd no a/c. Seems to be running OK but not crazy about this return spring setup - especially attachment to carb - I count 38 coils on that rusty spring, fwiw. What do I need to get to to make a better setup? I see classic industries has some brackets and springs - not sure what would do the job. thnx for any comments.

That front bracket looks homemade. Your spring should have a little more tension on it. Try Jegs. They seem to have better prices on that stuff.

Why not get the correct parts ?
The spring and bracket can be had for a little over $20.00.

You need a Holley 20-7 throttle bracket adapter also.
"No big deal,' ALMOSTY ANYTHING WILL WORK u can make one that will work , and prettier. A double spring is safer, but need a lighter spring if doubled .Don`t worry too much about it !

thanks you guys for taking time to reply - great stuff. I think I'd like factory version - if anyone knows part numbers it would help. Merry merry. Santa got me new back seat upholstery.

I like it; it's a simple solution to the poor pull-angle of the throttle cable. With too much spring, that angle will eventually wear out your base plate at the throttle shaft. Whoever built that I think was thinking long term.
But I would fix that pull-angle as soon as possible, and get the proper Mopar adapter at the control-arm. Notice Ironmike's solution in post 11 which puts everything in a straight line
