Any one have any experience? Good/Bad; tell me what you know.
 
They used it on piston crowns and chambers. Anything that keeps heat in chambers is beneficial unless your chasing a smog inspection. May work on intake bottoms too. .
 
Piston crowns, valve heads and chambers probably the best use, anywhere else it's effectiveness is negligible.
 
I'm kinda looking for info on how well they would stand up to a 400hp shot of Nitrous......

Well it won't hurt to do the tops of the piston and chambers, you would want to start with very conservative timing like 8 to 12 to start short burst check plugs. If using a plate system you may have to get a pro to flow and size the jets as I think most flow/jet tables go to 350hp . Good luck.
 
Yep, the coating won't help if the tune up gets sideways.

An acquaintance runs NMCA, has his engine pulled down for freshining and looking for more power. Around the exhaust valves in a couple of chambers the surface is potmarked/eroded, other chambers are smooth. He's got thermalcouples, O2 sensors every cylinder, coil pac ignition so he can pull timing on individual cylinders as needed.

I get that pressure and temperture under these circumstances is stagering; if it was every cylinder, tune up might be a logical first thought, since it's not every cylinder, it begs questions. I just thought coating might help.
 
The coating is only as good as what's underneath. The coating does help prevent hot spots, but the issue you will see is detonation. The aluminum underneath can dent, and the coating can come off at that point, ring lands can collapse, etc.

I'd definitely use the anti scuff coating on the skirts no matter what!

When I first saw the eroded surface detonation came to mind and then right on the heals of that thought was the thought that detonation that bad would be making a mess of the rest of the lower end, bearings would show the damage as would the piston crowns and the "show and tell" is not there.

He's working with his engine guy and will think of some thing...........I'm just trying to learn some thing new.
