Got the caliper in the trunk of a car I bought. Any ideas what it came from?

That number doesn't mean anything to you or me, the common enthusiast.
That is a regular, common, "SLIDER" type of caliper.
Yes, most likely A body, but Aspen, Volare, Diplomat, 5th Avenue, anything that used them, until the end of the rear wheel drive cars.
 
Gotcha'.

I pulled the piston out and it measures just a bit over 2.5" using a regular old tape measure. So, I think it is a off a 75 back a-body...seems the 76 up stuff had a 2.75" piston. ??
