I am looking for some insight on what intake to run on my 340. It is a .060 block with keith black pistons, eagle rods, 202 heads with some porting, comp cams mutha thumper cam and will be backed by a 4 sp. This will be a driver and not see any track time. Right now I have 2 options in hand for intakes 1) LD340 and 2)340 torker but have considered an air gap. Any thoughts from anyone on what would be the best.

LD340 is the best intake I’ve ever used on my 340. Nice bottom end and strong mid range...just what you need for a driver. If you were dragging it I would have said Holley Strip Dominator.

I like these manifolds. Hey you did ask for ideas.

That was one of my thoughts at one time but heard they are a pain to get set up right.
Glad it is only “Heard” because there not. Consider the 6 pack a 4bbl. with 2 extra secondary barrels. It tunes just like any other Holley. Do some reading on there tuning. 6 pack hand book maybe.

The RPM is better than the LD-340, however, I wouldn’t purchase on to replace the LD-340. I have had and used both.

Not that bad to set up. My 2nd motor to have one. 9 people will chime in & claim the manifold they tell you is the best. Throw out some CFM numbers. They will tell you what carb to run & why. And throw up 5 red flags on my post. Pop the hood on 6 Pack car & people say Wholly S*it. So you lose a few HP.? The wow factor will keep most people at bay!

The LD340 is a much better choice for a street car. I'm running a RPM Air Gap which is also a very good intake. 65'

Rode in a 70 440 6 pack bee back in the mid 70's man what a neck jerker that was

As an added note, the RPM VS. RPM A-G is the AG will need some warm up time in the cool/cold weather.

This notation made due to the comment from Plymouth 65.

RPM non air gap,or ld340 for cold weather areas. Ran Air Gap RPM ,non A.G .RPM, and Chinese knockoff in Cali. Non air gap RPM ,was nice.

Have in hand ? Meaning that you are not going out to purchase. For street use most definitely the LD 340. If I was doing a car. Just a thought.

If you were buying new I'd go with the Air Gap but seeing as you already have it the LD340 is an excellent manifold..

Here is some info for reference. I don't take anything at 100%, but it gives you something to think about and different perspectives/variables. I try to read and listen to everything. Then make up my own mind. Personally, I think the LD340 would be among the top contenders. I went to a Holley Strip Dominator in my Dart Sport 360 because I run a lot of gear, converter and cam duration. Much less and I believe the LD340 and Air-Gap would be worth considering, especially on the street.

Id use your LD340 with a 1/2" to 1" 4 hole spacer if you have the room, the AG might be worth 3 or 4 more but not worth the cost. I thought i would loose some HP when i went 6 pack but with the deep porting i did on the intake and the DC mechanicals flowing a true 1000cfms, it feels stronger than my old setup!!

+1 for the LD340
480 HP @5700 and 511 lbs./ft torque @ 4300 with the LD340 on my 418 stroked 340.
fwiw, It did not like any size spacer we put on it... your mileage may vary...
Eddy heads right out of the box, solid lifter, full roller, 10.5:1, 92 octane unleaded.
It's just a street car too.

Impressive numbers, what stroke you running? I'm trying to decide 3.79 or 4.00 inch for my 340 stroker build. 65'

Thanks!
4" stroke and .040 over to net 418 C.I.
My builder got a custom grind from his friends at Crane Cams
Camshaft: SR246/362-2S-8IG , .543/.561 L/S: 104 Int. C/L: 108
I don't know what all that means but I love driving it!
He built engines for Petty Racing for 20 years before going into business for himself.
He asked what I wanted and I told him, "Gobbs of low to mid-range torque, some lope at idle but not to lurch and lope down the street at low RPM, let the HP fall where it will and run on pump gas."
Would have been happy with 400 HP and 450 Torque.
Smiled for a week after dyno day and every time I drive it.
Always thought the 340 before stroking it was pretty snappy. Well, now it's really snappy.

You can take these numbers and go to a Crane Cams catolog or there web site and it will tell you everything. I can’t remember it all off hand but from what I can recall;

SR - street roller
246 - duration @.050
/362-2s I’m not sure

8 - cam is in a 108
IG - is Iron Gear which means you don’t need a bronze gear on the intermediate shaft. You can use the stock or the MP hardened gear.

And by the way, nice cam, nice engine.

LD340 hands down between the two you have.

The original Torker 340 is the biggest pile o'crap intake edelbrock ever made for a SB mopar. Maybe any intake they ever made. LOL

Thanks to everyone for the info and with this info it will be the LD340 considering that I live in the Midwest.
