72 340 4 spd question

Am I missing something? He says he has a matching numbers 340 4 speed Demon, and he wants to buy another tranny off of Craig's List for it? I am just curious why he would put a non-matching tranny in the place of the matching number tranny. Usually, when we say "matching numbers", we mean that at least the engine and tranny match.
