Manual Valve Body, best one to get?

-
The big thing with the MVB is whether it's low band apply or not. I use the turbo action RPMVB. I don't think circle track use vs. anything else would make ay difference. You just want manual gear selection with no kickdown. You'll be in high gear as soon as you get behind the pace car.

Ok so I do NOT want "low band apply", correct?

If you need to use 1st gear to get up to speed or under competition get a valve body WITH "low band apply". If you can run with just using 2nd and high gear you can use a valve body without "low band apply" and just lock out 1st gear on the shifter to be safe. Valve bodies without "low band apply" will have no engine braking in 1st gear and run the risk of locking the sprag and blowing the rear drum apart, this is more common in the 727 than the 904 but is still possible with the 904. All the potential for catastrophic transmission damage happens in 1st gear with a valvebody without low band apply, 2nd and high are the same with either style manual valve body.

I don't see any reason not to buy a low band apply. I bought the turbo action one because at the time they were well advertised and it was all I knew about.

Personally it isn't a big deal if you drive it correctly. For you application, you'll pull out of the pits in 1st, shift to 2nd then in into high. You'll never be in 1st again until you get back into the pits and even then you may not need it. You do not need low band apply, and again, no one really does.

Are you saying there is no reason TO buy a LBA/I dont need it/no one does? Yes I would be starting out in 1st then 2nd & either staying in 2nd if the 4:10 7&1/4 holds up (fingers are crossed/its much lighter!) or shift to 3rd if I have to swap in the 8&34 (5:57)
