Does torque convertor selection effect the onset/prevention of detonation?

Will a higher stall convertor forestall detonation, if all other factors stay the same? Thank you.

P.S. Your photo does not represent a piston damaged by detonation, but rather a lean condition that burned a hole in it. Detonation beats up the piston tops, crushes the top ring lands, peppers the sparkplugs, and beats the rod bearings out.
