30 vs 35 spline axles

-
Ok, I see now that the spline end is smaller than the shaft on a 30 spline and probably the 35 spline is 1.5 the entire way. Thanks. Kim

They use the same bearing on the Dana 60 as the 8 3/4. The end of the axle where the bearing sits is the same diameter on both.
The end of the axle that goes into the differential is smaller on the eight and three-quarter than the Dana. Meaning that the 8 3/4 is a 30 spline and the Dana being a 35-spline.
As said previously you can go 35-spline 8 3/4 but you'll have to use a 35-spline spool to do it.
30 spline axles are so that you can use the Ford trac-lok and 8 3/4 axles in the Dana.

Somebody needs to come up with a 35 spline posi for the 8 3/4 so I can switch from the spool rearend to a posi unit without getting different axles. The spool is a little crazy on the street. Maybe someone could do a special order but I'd think a run of them would be good because I can't be the only one wanting that !

Looking foe opinions from those members who have used both sizes of axles Is there a huge difference in strength between 30 and 35 spline axles. thoughts please and :thankyou:

Here is a good chart comparison
