Christmas presents and coworkers...

One of my friends got me a Vertigate for my Blown 426 Duster-Twister project!

This thing is going to look beautiful sticking up through the center of a ‘68 Barracuda Center Console (with matching ‘68 Barracuda Rallye Cluster), that are currently in the Twister.

One of my coworkers picked up the shifter, goofed around with it and said “That shifter is broken, it only moves forward and backward.” I tried to explain how it worked and he says “So it’s for a 2 Speed Manual?”

“No, it’s for a 4 Speed.”

“But it only has 1st and 2nd!”

I gave up and walked away to get some coffee, lol. The same coworker tried to tell me to “load extra weight in your truck before you tow, so you can really hear that turbo zing on the diesel.” This was after I explained that I had backed off the wastegate, pump adjustments and shift points so that I wouldn’t smoke the transmission (at that time I didn’t have a trans temp gauge and the diesel was maxed out on adjustments, so I dialed everything back prior to towing as a safety measure.)

“But you’ll really get to see it boost if you load it.”........ I shook my head, sighing. “It already pegs the boost gauge during normal driving, powerslides during the 1-2 upshift, howls em on the 2-3 and 3-4 upshifts, what part of trying to protect the transmission don’t you get? I backed everything off for a reason.”

This would be the truck in question. My lifted AWD, Turbo Diesel Dakota
