Anti Thief devices.... what works

Ok I am interested in this. So if I test this, take my tach wire which is hooked up to my tach, instead attach it to ground, try to start the car and the car should not start. Correct? and there is no damage to my Coil or Dizzy by grounding out that wire, right??

You don't want to leave it that way with ignition on for "several minutes." If you are trying to save your car, and "that happens" it might damage the coil, but "so what" if you save the car??

Otherwise, yes that is the way to test it. The coil NEG where the tach hooks is switched on and off to trigger the spark by the ignition box. "Pulsed." Same thing with older ignition points. So if you ground that, the box/ or points cannot open that circuit and cause the spark
