Oh what a day...

Yeah I can't believe what American Powertrain charges for that hydraulic set up. Ridiculous.

I had considered trying to make a similar bracket myself since it didn't seem that hard, but figured it was easier to just flatten the firewall and weld the tab on the pedal box. Less worry about a tilted master cylinder that way too.

Here's the first part of what I completed. I changed the crappy first design using threaded rod to a solid chunk of steel welded to the pedal.

My Wilwood master came with a support that ties to the lower MC bolt to a drilled hole in the forward frame rail. No deflection.

Can get pictures if needed

Yes please. Maybe mine was missing a part?

Thanks,

Riddler

This isn't the best picture, but you can see what's happening. Two 90° ends and a flat plate spanning between them. This kit came from Silver Sport Transmissions, maybe they include it and not Wilwood.

This is a early picture, many things have changed on my car since I took this, but this component is essentially the same.

Found my issue! ToB is maxed... time to add more shims. I’ve 1/2” already. Anyone else use more than that?

Clutch is an ACT single pack.

I stacked two shims on my magnum trans. SST is very particular about measuring for this

I measured and got .620”. I was told ACT didn’t need a lot to release but guess it needs more than .500”. I’m planning to add another .250”. Hopefully that’ll do it.

OK got off the phone with ACT and the pressure plate needs .280" which is 1/4". My TOB is pushing right up to the fingers and pushing the fingers in a little, maybe 1/16 or 1/8".

My measurements are as followed:
.620" Spacer measurement needed (minus)
.500" Spacer I tried (equals)
.120" left over space I was hoping the TOB would cover.

.280" ACT clutch needs this to release. (plus)
.120" left over from above. (equals)
.400" Needed

.400" from above (minus)
.250" New spacer I want to try. (equals)
.150" left over. Which is roughly 5/32"

Does it sound right that I would need more than 3/4" of spacers? I've never head of needing this much. I have read a few guys are using 3/4"....

The TOB should have way more travel than that. You don't need it to contact the pressure plate while fully compressed. I think when I measure my TOB I had something like 1.5" total travel from fully compressed to fully extended. You should just have to live in this range. That would mean that even if you didn't eat up 0.6" with spacers you should have nearly 7/8" of travel left in the TOB. Shimming it just allows you to use more travel if needed. I would make sure you're actually getting "1:1" pedal to throwout movement. Sounds like you might have air or something in the system that's keeping it from working right.
