Hey guys,

When I purchased my ‘67 Barracuda it has the original lap belts. I need help determining what these odd pieces are on my car. I have looked in the ‘67 service manual and search FABO with no avail. What it the grey sheet metal clip used for on the passenger side? On the opposing side is a coat hook? Are both factory? Please look at the pictures and let me know.

I checked my 1967 notchback and it also has a coat hook on the drivers side. I have no idea what you have on the passenger's side. With respect to your 3-point seat belt question, I don't believe they were even an option in 1967.

Not sure when shoulder belts started but I pulled a set out of a 68 Notchback. The "holder" when not in use is part of the visor.
Not sure what those metal pieces are??

shoulder belts and latches on the seat backs appeared together 1968. You should have the 1 coat hook on left side. Clothing on right side would block view to blind spot. That wouldn't stop a owner from adding some sort of hanger there or maybe even a closet rod across from left to right.

You came to the same conclusion I did. I don’t know what it is either. After 50 years and 3+ Owners god only know when it was installed and what it is. It is not hurting anything there so I’m going to leave it. Thanks for looking.

Shoulder belts were available as an option in 67. My 68 GTS didn’t have shoulder belts and according to the broadcast sheet the option was not checked. NTSB required shoulder belts 1 January 1968.

As far as coat hooks my 68 had them on both sides. At some point they went from the metal hook to a plastic hook.

If you need seatbelts give me a holler.

Well problem solved. My kid went in with a pair of pliers and yanked it out. It must have been in there a long time because he said it was hard to get out. We will call it an automotive accessory and move on.

I'm thinking someone just made a hanger to hold up a rod that ran to the other side.
