I am building a whole rear assembly from just the axle housing. Got the backing plates. shoes drums and most of the hardware. Except one small part.

What is this called

So far, from the pictures on the internet, it's called.... THIS

Mopars FSM lists it as the "Anchor Plate" in the diagrams, I call it the "Wing Plate"..........

I second the anchor plate, as it sits on the Anchor pin.

9" drums don't have it, as I recall. Not sure why, other than cheaper without. Confused me until I looked carefully at photos in FSM and google.

Of course, before that I was cussing, "stupid gomers lost the triangle washers". They did install the brakes shoes incorrect - 2 shorty pads on one side, 2 long pads on other side.

Depends on rear end,no?
I have the drums off a 7-1/4 and will be within 2 feet of it tomorrow.

flat washer on a grinder.

Does that set the pivot point for the shoes?

Its job is to keep the end of the brake shoe from leaving the anchor pin.

The brake shoes are actually floating held in place by a couple Springs. So this guide plate keeps the shoes lined up with the pin so they have an anchor.
