Just checking on this-
Does the stock brake distribution block that is bolted to the rear axle on the driver's side also serve as the vent for the axle?

I believe I heard that this was the case but if not, is there a part that would accomplish this?

Thanks!!

The bolt that holds that distribution block to the axle should be hollow with a cap that's your vent tube.

Also depends on what axle you have.What year ? 7 1/4,8 1/4, 8 3/4 ?
The 7 1/4 and 8 1/4 have vents on the housing and has a solid bolt.Again depending on the year. I installed a 7 1/4 that was a 1974 and it had a vent in the housing.

Thanks to all.

Just looking at pictures, it almost seems like the flexible section of the brake line that comes from the body of the car is permanently affixed to these blocks. Is that right? If so, is this a maintenance/replacement part?

Again, depends on the year. Sometimes the flex hose is part of the block, and other years it screws into the block. Both can be bought. I think my 76 Aspen (F body) was the one piece type.

The stock one is a little short if you are going to use super stock springs I pulled one apart so I now use the flex (or rubber) line from a dodge van.

That is why there is a loose sheet-metal cap on top of the bolt (at least in my 1965 C-body, 8.75" rear). Confused me until I read, and good I didn't get the bright idea to seal it better. In most cars, the pinion seal probably leaks enough by now to vent air pressure. I wonder if those are worth replacing since it doesn't loose much oil and I think just oil splash (level sits below seal), plus keeps the rear-end from rusting.
